Post subject: Exception Free Websites

Hi there,

I have noticed that if a site listed in the Exception Free Website section contains any links to a site that is not on the list the page will fail and redirect back to the logon page.

The offending item is a Youtube video link.
As you can imagine I do not want to allow Exception access to Youtube nor do I wish to redesign the customers website.

Is it possible for the software to simply FILTER out the 'non exception' links and still display the rest of the Valid page.

Actually the Exception Site does detect mobile devices and not deliver the Youtube clip so the Page loads fine with no youtube content but on a Desktop or laptop browser it fails back to the PS.logon page.

Please try:

1) delete google.com under Exception Free Websites domain name
2) restart FirstSpot

Thanks for the reply.
I have already removed all the unwanted items from the Exception List and this problem still happens.

Any other thoughts.?

Can you explain a simple test case to reproduce this problem? Thanks.

If you insert the following into a test page
it should demonstrate the problem.

<iframe
width="290"
height="163"
src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/OMtewrsdfsa?rel=0"
frameborder="0"
allowfullscreen>
</iframe>

if the above text has been blocked Or for a quick look at a site to demonstrate the problem you may wish to visit.
www.hiddenvision.co.uk/testspot

I will have a simular link in that page.
if you set your exception to my site and then try to get to that page,
you should get back to the normal FS.logon page.

The Video is not valid but the problem remains the same if a valid video number is used.

I guess if you can determine that the link has come from a trusted site then you could either display it (depending on the security risk) or simply filter it out and display a cannot be displayed banner in its place.
Perhaps even with a link to a page that would explain why the content was blocked.!

Or is it possible to allow a single file on youtube to be trusted.?
I think I tried to put in a subfolder into the Exception list but it did not give the desired result.
I guess that could also be an improvment to allow only certain files or folders from 'non trusted' sites to allow for these types of includes.

By the way as mentioned the original customer site will detect browser types and not display the Youtube clip and as such will display the page correctly.

My testsite does not have this detection process so it should work to demonstate the problem on both mobile and desktop devices.

I hope this help to develop things further.

I am bit confused. So you want this embedded YouTube video to be blocked or not (when the user has not login to FirstSpot)?

Hi Alan,

I am easy.
Basicly the customer has this video on their website and I wish to make their website part of the Exception list so their customer can visit without signup. The problem is that when FS detects the Youtube clip it will instantly revert back to the Login screen.

If you can allow this one youtube video to be displayed then I am happy or if you need to remove it this is also OK.

If I allow Youtube.com in the exception list then it works but then everyone can visit youtube for free and this is not good.

If I remove youtube from the exception list the error will happen.

I hope this makes for better understanding.

Hi Alan,

Did we manage to get to the bottom of this.

Should the software be able to filter out the offending weblink (youtube) or will I have to ask the customer to redesign their website.

Perhaps it is possible to add a single video to the exception list.

Sorry to have to ask again but I need to be giving some answers to my customer soon and I have none !

Thanks.

Sorry, currently FirstSpot Exception Free Website feature only allows the whole domain (or IP), and it doesn't distinguish whether the http access is embedded within a html page or not.

Hi,

I have the exact same problem.

In the page I want to have as an Exeption Free Website (walled garden) probably delivers material from other sources and as soon this happends the user is redirected to the login page.

Is it possible to use wildcards in the syntax to overide this or is there any other solution?
My wanted Exeption free wabsite is www.volvogroup.com

Please advice - and if you dont understand the question, pls do a test.

Exception Free Website is already wildcard syntax. For your case, simply add:

volvogroup.com

Hi Alan,

It does not work as the Guest gets redirected to login page during the loading of the volvogroup page, probably due to the use of other sourser (e.g. other domains) to feed the volvogroup page.

Is this solvable?

You need to add other components within your webpage in the Exception Free Websites list also.

Make sure you restart FirstSpot after making any changes.

So the conclution is that all domains that is loaded within the exeption free website must be excluded to get it to work?
