is there anyway to change the format for the data rates?
instead of KBytes to kbits?

Do you mean the Status page? Sorry, currently it is only in KBytes. Actually, it is more common to use KBytes (e.g. IE download dialog or even file size) for data transfer purpose.
BTW, you can convert KBytes to Kbits using the below formula:
