Now that you have 64 bit support, I am once again considering FirstSpot controller software and have one question before testing/subscribing.
We have a mix of customers, both transients that connect via Wi-Fi and many fixed based customers that have their own local networks and connect to our network via a CPE access point we provide them.
For our fixed based customers using a CPE access point, we setup a MAC filtered pass-though account for the CPE in our current controller. When these customers access our network, their account is authenticated and opened as long as they use a browser and send an http request to the controller to access our network first. If, however, their email client or a game or TV console is the first to make contact with our current controller, the account isn't opened which forces them to open a browser and access the internet first. This is a nuisance for them and has always been a problem for us.
My question is, using your software, is there a way to have these accounts open all the time so if their first contact with us is via an email client or game or TV console, these devices will have access.
Typically this problem occurs anytime our controller is rebooted or our customers account timer expires due to inactivity.
We're hoping your software can be configured to allow access for individual accounts all the time after the initial account setup, even if the controller is rebooted.
Thank you in advance. |

Yes, this can be done using the new "Login Once" user attribute. The idea is that the user account will be converted to “Passive Login” after the first login so the same client machine can access the Internet without login.
Please refer to chapter 3 of firstspot_guide.pdf for more information. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
