|
|
hello all-
We are a support provider for a Firstspot client whose server has crashed. We're performing recovery on the machine and I wanted to know what registry entries or files stored on the HDD would need to be recovered or edited besides the \Program Files\FirstSpot\ directory to restore the Firstspot install on the new HDD? |

Which version of FirstSpot are you currently using? _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

-how would I determine that from the Firstspot files? As I said, the machine is inoperable but we have recovered the HDD. Is there a registration key or file version/size I can check? |

The version is in the top of your config.ini file. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

ok, looks like client does have v8.0.9 installed and there is a license.key in the directory. How can we reload their existing configuration and accounts? Can we simply re-run the installer over this directory or do we need to perform a fresh install and then restore files and folders over it? |

Please use the following steps:
- reinstall new FirstSpot version in the same directory and same Windows Network Connection name (i.e. need to make sure you use the identical name before running FirstSpot setup, and you pick the Visitor and Internet Network Interface in the same order too)
- copy config.ini back from the backup to the FirstSpot directory
- assuming you use the default dbf datasource, copy files (except dsn file) under FirstSpot\datasource directory from the backup to the FirstSpot\datasource directory
- since you change the Visitor Network Interface MAC, copy the new license.key file we sent you to the FirstSpot directory
- start FirstSpot once and make sure the basic function is working _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
