You can study the following two PHP files for the mechanics of integrating a 3rd party payment gateway into FirstSpot:
- FirstSpot\authserve\paypal_submit.php
- FirstSpot\local\ppal_ipn.php

Hi please can you just confirm the syntax of the gateway
is this correct http://myexternal ip:5789
or should it be
http://.myexternal ip:5789
as i can't seem to get it working at the moment

The first one should be correct.
Are you still using FirstSpot v7 with PayPal? As PayPal makes numerous changes recently, it will hard to support PayPal with the old FirstSpot version. So officially we only support the current FirstSpot v8 with PayPal. Please upgrade as soon as possible if you want to continue to use FirstSpot with PayPal.
