We have some scattered reports that VPN works better if you are using FirstSpot (with NAT turned on) on Windows server OS (2000 server or 2003 server).

ramada, I will send you the v5 beta 1 download instruction in a separate email...

It should work. You might want to check out http://patronsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1329 for more information about VPN connection through FirstSpot.

Did you try the suggestion above? Maybe you can turn off FirstSpot NAT as a test?

Hi !

I was using XP as operating system and now I'm using 2003 server.

When I connect to the VPN after I put the password I'm disconected from FirstSpot and the VPN drop.

After turn off the NAT and set a static route on the router, The firstspot is working fine. I tried to connected to the VPN and it did not ask for password and after while It shows error 412. The firstspot still connected.

Any ideia ? the client is very upset.

Thanks

Maybe you need to check your router's NAT and VPN? Since if you turn off FirstSpot NAT, FirstSpot really acts as a plain router and does not modify the packets in any way.

One other thing you can try (though it may not be related) is to turn off In-Browser Message, and then restart FirstSpot.

Post subject: still not workin

I re-format the server 2003. Install the firstspot.
Everithing is working

Try cisco VPN from a client
connect workin for 55sec. and disconect

Try to switch off NAT and modify the routing

Fisrtspot works
VPN did not even ask for password and ends uo with error 443.

Based on the forum I saw that version 5 works. Is It possible to try it ? whe can I find it ? or do you have any help to try on V6 ?

Thanks

Maybe you should dig out what is exactly "error 443"?

One simple reminder, you need to login to FirstSpot first in the web-based login page before trying to connect the VPN connection.

If you're using Advanced Edition of FirstSpot, you can turn off the NAT at the public interface, FirstSpot will then act like a vanilla router. Please remember to add a return route at the next-hop router though.
