even if i use the straight IP it dosen't work. Router has port forwarding setup. so im not sure whats going on. I even tried it with my computer in the DMZ zone on the router and using the IP rather than with no-ip

Couple of observations:

1) We can access your IP http://70.51.13.137:5789, so your firewall setting looks okay

2) Your FirstSpot setting looks okay too

3) So txn.log still doesn't exist?

4) What exact steps did perform in the client side PC? Did you complete the payment successfully?

5) BTW, are you using sandbox to test? It looks like PayPal sandbox only allow for port 80 for a while, see https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/Merchant-services/Instant-Payment-Notification-Problems/m-p/289036/message-uid/289036 . We need to re-test from our side.

on a client PC. open up google chrome or IE9. do a self sign up, be redirected to shopping cart on login. pay with paypal, with a real account into our real business account. the payment succeeds in paypal. (i get receipts for both accounts in both emails)

the information is simply not making it to the config manager.

Please reproduce the problem, and then go to PayPal control panel -> click My Account -> click History -> click IPN History, click the first entry under "Search results", post the "Notification URL" field here.

It looks PayPal only allows port 80 for IPN return traffic. Please perform the following:

1) copy the 2 files ppal_ipn.php and transaction.php from FirstSpot\local to FirstSpot\firstspotdemo directory

2) change your "Publicly accessible URL to receive transaction update from PayPal" to http://70.51.13.137

You also need to make sure your router/firewall port forward port 80 for your public IP address.

I see that IPN is turned off in my paypal settings. however to turn it on i have to give it a static adress to give IPN notifications to. But my problem is that I will have two sites running independently and each will have it's own IPN url. so i cant have it set to only one.

BTW, it is okay for your IPN to be turned off in your PayPal setting. FirstSpot actually submits the IPN address to PayPal on-the-fly during the actual purchase.

so should I still change my setup to use port 80?
