We are running FirstSpot 7.0.9 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
using SQL Server 2012 as the data base.
This server has been in production for 3 weeks without issue using the default Dbase database. On Friday we were installing MS SQL server but had not yet started the configuration work when the server quit responding to Ethernet traffic, the switch ports (on a Cisco 3560) were seen cycling up and down and screen and keyboard would not respond.
We power cycled the box; when it came back up, it started accepting logons. Once it got to about 8 or 10 logon users the screen and keyboard quit responding and we witnessed one of the Ethernet ports on the switch flapping again.
We took the box out of service, performed memory tests and CPU load test over the weekend, all results were OK.
IIS was running on the server at the time of the problem and the installation of MS SQL. That service has now been stopped/disabled.
We have the server on the bench and are finishing the configuration change to MS SQL and have not seen any issues but we only have one client connected and no real way of stress testing (200-300 users) without putting it back into production.
Are there any other tests or maintenance we should be performing? Could the MS SQL server install with IIS running have caused the problem (port 80 conflict?)?
Thanks in advance _________________ Scott |

It is a hard to pinpoint as your symtoms are non-specific. Maybe you can install the SQL server in a seperate machine and have FirstSpot access it remotely?
BTW, you can use the command:
to identify the exact process/service that is holding the port. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
