Dear FirstSpot
I read in a blog that v6 will run in a guest on VM.
Can we also run FirstSpot on - say, Win 7 on a windows hyper-v host, say using Windows 8.1 ?

Yes, Hyper-V is supported.
Note that if you want to use FirstSpot v8 if you want to run FirstSpot on Windows 8.1.
