Post subject: Trial Problem

Hi,

I've installed FirstSpot on a PC runnig XP pro SP2 lastest patches, the software installed OK and appears to be running correctly.

I've connected a client via a crossover cable and have got an IP address OK but cant connect to the welcome screen, the browser just sits there displaying the 'opening page...' message - for ages - doesn't time out.

I've read the rtf about the offloading issue and changed the settings on the interface (using an NVIDIA chipset with the interface on the mainboard) - no change.

Any other advice?

Many thanks.

Yes, there is problem with DNS request.

Did you install FirstSpot in Windows server OS? Have you installed other DNS server in the same machine?

FirstSpot is installed on a Windows XP pro SP2 machine, DNS comes from my Windows 2003 Server Domain controller.

Can your firstspot machine browser internet?

Is the ISC BIND service running?

Try to post the result of nslookup for the firstspot machine with assisted DNS from 2k3 server.

And the result of nslookup after you set the nslookup server to private address.

Post subject: Closing this issue

Sorry for the delay, I finally tracked the problem down to a faulty NIC, once replaced the system worked as advertised, I've now started testing.

Many Thanks
