How are the passwords stored in the DB?

Hi all,

I'm writing an application to manage the accounts on the appliance. I have everything done except the storage of the passwords in the fsusr table.

My question is: How are these passwords encrypted? Is it a plain crypt? An MD5? Or something else?

My application is written in PHP.

Hello Ton,

User passwords are encrypted using our own proprietary method. FirstSpot Advanced Edition supports the concept of password offloading - which lets you use your own password encryption scheme.

You can then use, say, PHP's MD5 function to encrypt a password during account creation and ask FirstSpot to call a MD5 executable running on Windows for user authentication. We can supply you a sample md5.exe for testing purposes.
