Operating in Access Points in Bridge Mode

Hello,

I am looking into purchasing First Spot and am currently experimenting with the demo version to see how to set this program up. I have sucessfully reached the login page via a direct connection to our server, however, now I want to try and get to the internet via a laptop with a Wireless Notebook Adapter in it.

My question is: My LinkSys-G Access Point has two modes: Bridge Mode and Access Point Mode. I believe that the Access Point is supposed to be set in Bridge Mode. However, LinkSys's access points can only be set in bridge mode if they have another LinkSys access point to connect to. How do I address this through FirstSpot?

Hello Evin,

Please use Access Point mode in your Linksys model - that's what our documentation supposed to mean. The tricky thing is different vendor use different terminology to describe the same thing.

I was running out of ideas on why it might be having trouble connecting. Anyways, I got it to work after a bit of playing around. We hadn't assigned a DNS yet, which was a bad idea.

Just purchased the program, so hopefully it will work out at our facility!
