Is there a simpler way to do an upgrade from 5.10 to 5.16 other than a full uninstall and reinstall. Is there just a couple of files I can swap in and reboot the server? |

Yes, FirstSpot v5 setup supports upgrade (i.e. no uninstall/reinstall) if only the third digit of the version number changes. In other words, you can upgrade from v5.1.0 to v5.1.6 by simply running the new setup.msi.
Refer to http://www.patronsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1880 for more information. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

When I run it, the first thing it says is that its going to uninstall the existing version. |

I checked again, the only option is removal. It's not asking me to repair or upgrade. |

Strange. Are you sure you are running running v5.1.0 (instead of v5.0.0)?
The most accurate way to check your currently installed FirstSpot version is to go to : Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> click FirstSpot and note the version number. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Must be 5.0. So does that mean a full re-install? |

If you are currently using v5.0.0, yes you need to uninstall/reinstall.
Note that database definition has changed between v5.0.0 and v5.1.x, so you need to export/import your database tables. Refer to chapter 5 of firstspot_guide.pdf for upgrade instructions. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

We have 5.1's and 5.0's. I just did a 5.1 upgrade and it went through clean. |

So is it necessary to purchase a complete new package in order to upgrade from 5.1.0 to 5.1.5???? |

No. You can just upgrade if you have the license agreement. |
