Post subject: Client IP configuration restricted

Hi,

This is an old problem (from v4...!). We use FirstSpot in our hotels (we have now v7), and in our experience, some clients come with laptops which IP configuration is restricted and configurated with static IP, mask, Gateway and DNS from their company. In other words, is impossible for us, configure the computer. Client never have the administrator password.

That scenary is frequent, and clients don`t understand explains. They only want to connect. We don`t have wired connections in our rooms. Sometimes, clients leave the hotel... :(

What can we do about that? Any solution or idea?

This is not an easy problem, as this is really the basic TCP/IP design.

One workaround is to simply lend the customer a USB/CardBus network card (wired or Wi-Fi). That way you can have more control on his network setting.
