Post subject: FirstSpot V8 beta on Windows 2012 R2 won't start

I have two existing Licensed Firstspot boxes with Version 7.0.12 on Windows 2008 server. Looking to upgrade to Version8.

On new test box I am running Windows 2012 R2 server on Hyper-V and all the pre-work are setup correctly. This is the third Firstspot box I've built. I have compare all settings and they are correct.

When I try to start Firstspot service I get error message
***** All the error messages of session started at Mon Apr 14 14:13:46 2014 are shown below *****
Mon Apr 14 14:13:46 2014 Visitor Network Interface Card did not bind the PatronSoft FirstHop Driver, or some of the following services failed to start: rasman, lmhosts, netman. Please reboot Windows and start FirstSpot again [may need to do this multiple times]

The nics are bind to PatronSoft FirstHop Drivers and required service are running.

I have restart multiple times and re-install multiple times. FirstSpot will not start.

The driver is not installed correctly.

Please try:

1) uninstall/reinstall FirstSpot
2) start FirstSpot
3) if you get the above error, reboot Windows and start FirstSpot again
4) repeat the step 3 about 3 times. If the same error persists, please capture the screen dump of Device Manager -> Network Adapters. Make sure you select View -> Show hidden devices first before capturing the screen dump.

An alternative to display network adapters is to download devcon.exe from Microsoft at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311272 . You can then open Command Prompt as administrator, and then run the below command:

devcon listclass net

Your network setup looks okay.

So do you have other two Windows 2012 that install FirstSpot v8 correctly?

Can you email us (firstspot@patronsoft.com) the remote access instruction so that we can take a look at this third Windows directly?

This problem is related to driver signature and it only affects 64bit Windows.

This problem is fixed in the FirstSpot v8 beta 2 or later.
