Hi support
We currentl use mac based auth for our users as this allows long term users to have automatic logon. I was hoping to move to ip based auth but would users have to re authenticate on each logon. I am tring to understand the mechanism around ip based solution since the dhcp server can still see the mac address does the bind to mac option still work.

For IP-based Session Handling, FirstSpot recognizes the client by IP instead of MAC. This is usually used for Multiple Network Segments topology as the routers will filter out the client MAC address (level 2 header).
We don't use the DHCP server mechanism to "see" the client MAC. Part of the reason is that there is no easy way to ensure the client is using FirstSpot DHCP server. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
