Yes it's possible. There's no problem (I think) to use ethereal with patronsoft running
I've used it many times to analize better that "unknown traffic" that clogges bandwitdh ad/or CPU.

for this setup you want, what i would do is just use a professional router and/or access point like [product name deleted] (indoor, outdoor and pc software for building router/ap by yourself) or lobom ...
