Post subject: First Spot not Recognising the Wannadoo ADSL Modem

Hi, I am trying to install Firstspot 2.111 on a Windows XP SP1 with an Wannado ADSL Thomson modem, During the installation it ask for a device for the Public lan and then the Private LAN, its detect my NIC for the Private Lan but does not list the PPPOA Modem Device from the drop down list.

Have anybody had any problems with ADSL Modem?

FirstSpot at this moment only supports PPPoE driver from EnterNet; alternatively, you can consider adding any low-end ASDL router box between FirstSpot's public interface and your ADSL modem.

Does this mean the network should look like this?

Internet<--->ASDL Router<--->Netwok Card (1)(Public)-PC-Network Card (2)-(Private)<--->Hub/switch<--->Firstspot Clients

Will this work?

Also, I've already purchased a licence to FS Version 2.111 (yet to register it). Will i need to pay for the upgrade when version 3 comes out?

Your topology is correct.

For the eligibility of upgrade, please write to us at firstspot@patronsoft.com to discuss further.
