Proxy Server

Hello,

I'm playing with the beta of v3 and thus far everyting seems to work fine. (Using Radius & Client Pass-Thru). On our network, All clients are required to go thru a proxy (on port 80). Is it possible to have FirstSpot "intercept" this traffic and redirect to the login page?

We haven't done extensive testing on proxy.

In theory, try to put FirstSpot "behind" your proxy server.

Like:

Client PC -> ................... -> Proxy -> FirstSpot -> Internet

You need to make sure your Proxy server does not hide the client PC source IP address as FirstSpot will use the source IP to identify the client PC. Also, you need to use IP-based session handling within FirstSpot.

Please give us feedback once you test it.

Thanks for the QUICK response. Unfortunately, I don't think putting FirstSpot after the proxy is an option. My setup is several locations all connected (via T1s) to a central site, At the remote locations there are both wireless & hard wired connections. The proxy server (aka content filter) is at the central site. My goal is to only have the wireless users login thru FirstSpot and make it seamless (as possible) for the end user.

Note that if you can setup your proxy as a "Transparent Proxy" server, you can put it after FirstSpot. Namely,

Client PC (no proxy setting) -> FirstSpot -> Transparent Proxy (perform filtering here, behave like a router) -> Internet
