l2tp tunnel gateway

hi, I downld loaded the trail version of your software, and I could reach the server localy, but when I try to assign an IP address for a l2tp user who make dial throgh the vpdn network, he get assigned for the IP address but we have a problem that the gateway he gets is the default gateway for the vpdn network, how can I make his gateway 10.20.7.1 ?

Hi Alan,
Thank you for your response, I will paste you the ipconfig /all for two users, first users shows as normal user who get a real IP with default gateway to the internet , and the other user who get virtual IP address been assigned from the First spot range, with the same IP address of user1, our problem as I mentioned that we need user2 who already got IP address from the same range of the 10.20.7.x to get the gateway 10.20.7.1

Instead of just trying to make the gateway 10.20.7.1 (for PPP adapter GlobespanVirata Dial-Up PPP Connection), I want to know your intention.

Is that you want the client to access (in this sequence) through FirstSpot:
1) Internet
2) your VPN

What do you mean by "through VPN"? So you want the client to access the Internet "at large" through VPN, rather than going directly?

Please clarify and preferably give some examples.

The customer who make dial though out VPN network, I want him to have the first spot IP address as default gateway instead of

I understand what you want, the problem is that I am not sure if this is the right solution.

Most of the dial-up interface is quite special, the IP and gateway are the same and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.255. Try PPPoE and you will understand what I mean. It is really a layer on top of your physical card. Unless your VPN client (i.e. GlobespanVirata) allows you to do it (which I doubt), you cannot really change it.

Again, I need to know what is your intention of doing so. Is that you want the client to access the Internet and VPN simultanously? In that case, what you need to do is to enable DHCP in your physical card (i.e. VIA Compatable Fast Ethernet Adapter). It will then obtain the IP 10.20.7.x from FirstSpot DHCP server. You should keep the VPN client IP as 209.88.199.102.

Mr. Alan, What do you suggest us to do in order to configure our VPN cisco 7507 router to give default route for the ADSL users the first spot internal ip address 10.20.7.1 ?

I am not too familiar with VPN cisco 7507.

Still, your best bet is to rely on the DHCP server in FirstSpot and turn off the DHCP server in your router. Again, the VPN client should be like a layer on top of your physical card.

The steps should be:
1) make your physical card obtain IP from FirstSpot DHCP server
2) login FirstSpot (if your VPN server/concentrator is "behind" FirstSpot)
3) connect to your VPN server/concentrator as usual

Now you should be able to access your VPN.
