Post subject: only exception free sites work

I set up the trial on win 2000 pro and it worked great. So we set up a new win 2003 server box with service pack 1, I installed firstspot but no joy. I can navigate to google.com, but no where else. I added cisco.com to the "exception free" sites, rebooted server, and now I can go to cisco.com but still nowhere else. Never prompted to log in.

A snip from the firstspot_gw_srv_xxxx.log looks like this:
26/04/2005 17:53:24 ** ServiceExecutionThread: Client IP[10.20.7.68][3844] Connected
26/04/2005 17:53:24 ** ClientThread(3844)->

26/04/2005 17:53:24 ** redirect_org: src_ip 10.20.7.68 src_port 2401
26/04/2005 17:53:24 ** match_allowed_hosts ->

26/04/2005 17:53:24 ** <- remove_ipport_entry
26/04/2005 17:53:24 ** <- ClientThread(3844)

If I manually go to http://10.20.7.1:5788 I see the login page but if I log in I get the following error (This is probably NOT relevant)

Notice: Undefined variable: sess_patronsoft2 in c:\program files\firstspot\authserv\login.php on line 294

Warning: com_invoke(): Invoke() failed: Type mismatch. Argument: 4 in c:\program files\firstspot\authserv\login.php on line 294
Invalid login! Please try again...

Thanks!

Post subject: additional information

I have no problem pinging by IP or by name to remote hosts from a computer on the private network
I can get to this support forum w/o any problem through firstspot
DNS appears to be working fine
This is NOT a wireless issue, as we had no problems on the "old" windows 2000 box earlier today
This is not an upgrade, I have two machines. I have to move the inside and outside network cables from one to the other, they are not both up at the same time. This is NOT an ARP issue.
I have no problem browsing the web from the patronsoft machine

Thanks!

Make sure:

1) You turning off Offloading in your Private Network Interface. See readme.rtf for details.

2) Also, you need to turn off ICF (i.e. Firewall) in Windows 2003

If you still have problem, please post the ipconfig/all output of your FirstSpot machine.

Post subject: I just upgraded to 3.1.2 noticed a few things

the databases seem to be based on the c:\temp directory in the config.ini file and so it doesn't work without fixing these configuration settings.

also i'm wondering why it isn't redirecting correctly if i put a bad secret code in for anonymous login..... it sticks on a page that says 'invalid login' and goes to fs_login.php?reason=invalid but does not then go and reissue the login page.

the 15 minute trial box isn't popping up either.

lots just a fyi here...
thanks

1) This is normal. The database (datasource) path within config.ini should be changed to the FirstSpot\datasource directory during setup.

2) This is currently an issue with the latest v3.1.2. The user needs to retry(e.g. type the original URL again). The problem will be fixed in the upcoming v3 update.

3) Does your client browser has anti-popup feature installed (e.g. XP SP2, Google Toolbar)?

More on point 2, we are unable to reproduce your exact error.

Did you restart FirstSpot after you change to anonymous mode?

Post subject: seems install may not have completed

well i'm wondering if somehow the install didn't go right.
can run through it again, but at this point most is good so i might just keep things as they are and wait for your update to address point 2.

it is inconsistent here if the relogin redirects to the alogin or just stays put. thinking it will also straighten itself out.

yeah, a popup blocker is probably preventing that window from opening!

thanks.. great product and your responses to postings here are quick and complete. appreciate it!

For point 2, we actually cannot reproduce the problem. So what I said in the previous response "This is currently an issue with the latest v3.1.2" is incorrect.

Can you give us more information on the exact steps to reproduce the problem?

Post subject: login with invalid password not redirecting to alogin page

I am not sure how much information I can provide that would be helpful.

We are using anonymous mode with the shared secret.

if i go onto the wireless network and enter a url (http://cnn.com -- which is not in the free site list). the initial login is presented fine via the url 'intercept':

http://172.28.251.1:5788/alogin_form.php?&desturl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2F&patronsoft1=922818058&patronsoft2=922818058

i enter the shared secret and press the submit button. It then flashes a page:

http://172.28.251.1:5788/fs_login.php containing:

wrong code! Please try again...

then it presents the following url:

http://172.28.251.1:5788/fs_login.php?reason=invalid

..
a view source shows that it perhaps it lost the refresh url.. here is the 'show source' before the refresh kicks in:

wrong code! Please try again...</br><body bgcolor=""><META HTTP-EQUIV='Refresh' CONTENT='12;URL=?reason=invalid'><script type="text/javascript">
var y = window.screen.availHeight - 25 // y coordinate of popup
var x = window.screen.availWidth - 10 // x coordinate of popup
var w = 400 // width of popup
var h = 200 // height of popup
y -= h
x -= w

function submitPopup()
{
var redirectURL = "<HTML><HEAD></HEAD><BODY><script type='text/javascript'>setTimeout(\"self.location = 'popup.php?rand=6973&username="+document.loginForm.username.value+"&count=0'\");</scr"+"ipt>Please wait!</BODY></HTML>";
popup = window.open('', '', 'toolbar=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=yes,top=' + y + ', left=' + x + ', height=' + h + ', width=' + w);popup.document.write(redirectURL);popup.blur();window.focus(); }
</script>

--------------

it should have cycled me to alogin_form.php with the ?reason=invalid and reprompt me for my shared secret. it used to do that. not sure what changed between 3.0.x and 3.1.x
thanks again.

Post subject: 3.0 fs_login works - FYI

just note that there seems to be some code in 3.1.x that works with the redirect_url variable. i compared and replaced the fs_login.php with the 3.0.x code and the redirection works.

yes i uninstalled 3.0.x and then installed 3.1.x. ran into this problem with it not handing login failure redirects..

i took the routine from the 3.0.x and tried it just to see and it does handle the rediret correctly now.. comparing the routines, there is some code change handling the redirect url.

it is an anonymous login using the shared secret for access.

hope that helps!
