Post subject: Dispatcher wont start in configuration Manager

Hi,

I am on Win XP Pro, 2 NIC (Accton and Realtek), 1 Wireless G Broadband Router with 4 ethernet switches (Linksys wrt54G), 1 ADSL broadband router. My Network setup is

WRT54G ------------ Accton---------FirstSpot------Realtek-----ADSL router(not connected (Private NIC) (Public NIC) (thru PPPOE)
on WAN
only using it as
AP and Switch)

I'm able to launch the configuration Manager, but the service wont start. tried numerous install uninstalls. Since dispatcher is not starting, its not even letting DHCP to start and thus the clients wont get the IPs.

When I start on command prompt or either from Services.msc, I get an error :

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

G:\Documents and Settings\Raj.ZONECARE-01XP>net start "PatronSoft FirstSpot Disp
atcher"
System error 1075 has occurred.

The service cannot be started, either because its dependency is not present or has been marked for deletion.

in event viewer I see several errors like one below :
The PatronSoft FirstSpot Dispatcher service depends on the following nonexistent service: firsthop

I have already checked the RRAS, I can start it manually without a hitch.

Please help!

Thanks,
~Hemant

Looks like the FirstHop driver is not installed correctly.

Are you sure you click Yes for the Windows Digitial Signature warning? Also, please go to Network and Dial-up Connections -> Accton Properties to check whether the FirstHop driver is installed and binded (i.e. check box is selected) for this particular network card.

If you still have difficulty, please post your error.log file

Hi Alan,

Thanks for replying! I have interchanged the LAN cards. Firsthop is binded to Realtek.

Also, windows digital certificate warning was disabled prior to installation as per the instructions in readme.rtf.

Please let me know where can i find the error.log file.

Thanks,
~Hemant

You need to bind the FirstHop driver to Accton and unbind it in Realtek.

If you still have difficultes, just uninstall/reinstall FirstSpot. Make sure you select Accton as Private Network Interface.

Hi,

I've changed the configuration. Now accton is on Public network and Realtek on the Private Network before the AP. I unistalled, did the changes and then reinstalled selecting Realtek as the private interface and accton as the public. It shows the Fisthop is binded correctly with realtek in its properties.
Fearing Anti virus to be a suspect, I even uninstalled my McAfee from the computer and installed first hop. But still the same error :o(

Help!

Please post your error.log file (under FirstSpot\log subdirectory)

Also, any related error in the Windows Event Viewer?
