There are two issues:

1) For InfoBox that shows after login, please check whether there is anti-popup turned on in your client browser.

2) For Instant Keyword "infobox", are you using FirstSpot DHCP server?

1. After the user logs in an additional two windows open. One contains information about FirstSpot being a Trial version. The other, which is supposed to contain the information about the account, displays 'The page cannot be displayed' message.

2. Yes FirstSpot DHCP Server is being used.

1) Are you sure you turn off all the firewall in your Windows Server 2003?

2) Can you try the following command in your client PC and post the output?

nslookup
set d2
infobox

3) please post the ipconfig/all in the client PC as well.

Your DNS looks fine. I suspect your problem is related to the web server.

Have you changed the Authentication server port (default is 5788)? Also, have you changed the httpd.conf file?

I will re-install the software later on today and will let you know of the outcome. It could be that at some point I changed something in httpd.conf, though I think this was done in a previous installation.

Anyway, the software is easy to re-isntall.

Thanks

Post subject: Back to square one

After a complete uninstall and re-installation of the software, the problem with the infobox remained.

If you wish to check my setup I may open a ts session again and provide you with access.

Please let me know through email and I will send the details.

Thanks
Carmel

We are still working on your infobox problem. Can you post your client PC's ipconfig/all output?

I checked network/Apache settings and they look fine, the only part I can think of is the database since InfoBox will query the ODBC datasource directly. I suspect something wrong with your database setup. And the fact that you are using SQL server as a datasource makes it a bit more likely (since SQL server is tricky to get it right).

Please switch back to the default datasource at this moment (please use the original DSN file, you might need to reinstall if you lost it).

Re-installed the software once again.
This time I did not change the dsn. Now the first and original problem surfaced again (see the first post in this thread) ... The server does not start.

Originally this was traced to the dsn.

Clearly there is something amiss here. Furthermore, we need to use the software with MSSQL, and I'd rather we solve the tricky SQL problem than the original dsn to be faced later with the SQL problem.

I generated the MSSQL tables using the script in the documentation.

The TS access is still open for you.

Thanks

1) For default dbf datasource, it is really strange. FirstSpot starting sequence fails very early in the process, just before datasource access. So I suspect something wrong with your ODBC setup. The problem is the that dbf ODBC driver come with Windows, so you need a clean Windows (reinstall again!) to isolate the issue.

2) For SQL server datasource (your workaround), please note that we only support SQL server 2000 (we use SP4 to test) and File DSN. Refer to readme.rtf for more information

So let's try to figure out SQL server datasource first (and hopefully make it work!!!), but again you need to make sure your SQL server conform to our requirement.

Will wait for the new Server that will be used to run the system.
As for MSSQL does the software work with the latest version of MSDE?
