Post subject: Error in firstspot? / apache?

Hi,

I'm currently evaluating Firstspot before buying.
My intension is to make a Scenario 3 setup with several networks behind the firstspot server, however I cannot get this to to work, as I get a popup box saying "apache.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close We are sorry for the inconvenience" every time I change from MAC-based to IP-based in the session handling.

If I do not change this setting everything is working OK, however users are ofcause validated with the mac-address of their router, which causes a malfunction when several users is logging in.

any suggestions?

Br,
Allan Holm

Can you give us VNC/Remote access to your server?

We are unable to reproduce your problem in your machine. We try to save the IP-based session handling setting with both FirstSpot stopped and started and no problems encountered.

Couple of things to note though:
1) You might want to disable your third network card (i.e. solar). Usually, FirstSpot runs with 2 active networks cards (Private and Public Network Interface). We haven't done a lot of testing with more than 2 active network cards (especially there is default gateway in your third network card).

2) Your machine is a bit underpowered. It shows it is a PII. Is it a mistake?

ok just to sum up things.
In my test I tried your software on an old ocmputer I had in stock. Now I have tried exactly the same config on a faster PC with no luck. The new PC only has two netcards installed. I still get this Apatche error.

Internal net is 10.112.1.1/24
my internal test network is with two routed segments 10.112.2.1/24 and 10.112.3.1/24 through gateway at 10.112.1.8.
This setup is working ok - I can ping everyone everywhere in this net.

If I do not change from MAC-based to IP-based in the session handling everything is working ok.When I change this setting I start getting this Apache error.

Any ideas I could try?

I am still a bit confused.

We are unable to reproduce your problem in the machine that you gave us VNC access. Can you give us VNC access to the machine that causes this problem?

VNC is no problem - I have installed it on the new PC with the same public IP and password as the old one.

When I access the internet from a client on the local lan (10.112.1.1/24) I do not get this error. It is only when it is a client of one of the connected network segments.

As soon as a client connected to one of the network segments, try to request the logon page then Apache crashes.

Okay, so is this a different error? Note that the "Saving in Configuration Manager" and the "login" error are completely unrelated.

Is the "Saving in Configuration Manager" solved?

I think that the confusion between the two errors is done by me as I haven't been clear in my error description...

I haven't had the saving issue you are refering to. It is the login error I'm experiencing.

thanks.

We discover the problem. There is a bug in the file fs_login.php.

I email you a new fs_login.php. Please test it and tell us whether this fixes your problem.
