Post subject: Manage firstpot from internet

Hi,
I currently own 6 licenses of firstspot, and would like to know how i go about managing the server from the internet. i have currently opend up my router to allow me to connect to it from the outside world, and assume port forwarding to 5787 would allow me to connect.

al i can get is invalid access!

Can it be done and how do you do it

You need to select "Allow configuration manager access from the public network (e.g. Internet)" within Configuration Manager, and then restart FirstSpot.

If you get invalid access, make sure the URL you use is like :

http://public_ip:5787

BTW, if you forget to set the above setting, you should get the error "You are not authorized to view this page" instead.

Post subject: tried that

i have tried to connect via the internat on both http://domain name:5787 and http://ip address:5787.

which still returns a blank page saying "invalid access"

i have proven connectivity to the server by accessing other services on the machine via the same method, and if i turn off remote access i get "You are not authorized to view this page" instead.

Alternativley, i could install a service like VNC and connect to the machine via that service, bypassing Firstspots webservice? maybe thats a way to go!

Please do one test. Can you try to access from a PC from the same network segment as the Public Network Interface (instead of Internet at large)? Your problem maybe due to the Port Forwarding.
