Still working with the trial version.

Is it possible to set up a range of time that the firstspot gateway is available? Ex: I'd like to set it to automatically run only on weekdays from 7am to 6pm. At 6pm it would shut down or just deny all access.

Not natively at this moment. We do have plan to support this type of "time-of-the-day" tracking model in the future.

Can you give us more background information on why you want to do that? Are you a Internet cafe? Do you plan to charge your users (through our credit card interface?)

BTW, the workaround for the current v4 use to write a SQL script to update the fsusr table daily (refer to Chapter 5 of firstspot_guide.pdf for the table definition). Not the easiest option but it does work.

Post subject: time of day tracking

We're not a internet cafe but rather a government office that wants to provide our visitors with wireless support.

We'd like to be able to shut this down during non-business hours just to limit our vulnerability to people trying to sneak their way into the wireless network. Since we're only open during regular business hours it just seems like an added point of vulnerability to leave something like this open nights and weekends.

I do think this is a feature that others would like as well.

Thanks for the quick reply.

In that case, just wondering is it okay to shutdown FirstSpot at non-business hours? You can put the shutdown command in "Scheduled Tasks" so that it will do that automatically. From more information about the shutdown command, please check out readme.rtf for details.

That would work. I'll look that up. Thanks for the response Alan.
