Post subject: Login credentials criteria

What are the user name and password criteria. I have one user that complained thier newly created login was reported invalid. I tried resetting the password. Then I noticed the user name has a space in it. If this is the problem, why did the system create the account? Can I edit a username?

We don't support username with space in it.

So maybe your end-users create username via self sign-up? You shouldn't be able to create username with space within Configuration Manager though.

Yes, the end user created the username as part of the signup process. I don't know of any systems that do support a space in the username, but the fact is your system allowed the account to be created. That needs to be written up as a bug report.

But you have not answered the question about the criteria. For both username and password, what are the minimum and maximum length, special characters usage, upper case / lower case senstivity, etc....

The criteria should be listed on the page where the user creates the account. Please provide the criteria and I will update my pages accordingly.

Here is the username criteria:

1) it is case sensitive
2) support number, alphabet, underscore (_) and dash (-)
3) within 20 characters in length

We will improve the self sign-up page in the future version.

Alan, I too reset passwords, or re-create accounts because of username spaces or symbols. Because of the amount of people using the network, this is a constant problem.

For password, apart from the above 3 criteria, you can use the following symbols:

!@#$%^&*-+?
