Post subject: More than one user

I downloaded the free trial and I created 10 users for Pre-Paid Cards. I found
that two users can use the same login and password at the same time. Is there anyway to avoid this?

Are you using "Shared Secret"?

For normal username/password, you shouldn't be able login twice simultaneously. Note that if you try to login the second time in a different machine, FirstSpot will give you option to kick out the original login user first and then re-login.

Please provide us with steps to reproduce your problem.

We are using "Shared Secret" for the cable modems. We are using Cable modems instead of a Normal LAN Connection. Cable modem do use "Shared Secret" to register with the Cable provider system (CMTS).

For "Shared Secret", I mean the "Shared Secret" feature under Anonymous Mode of FirstSpot.

The other thing you can check is to make sure there is no router between FirstSpot and the client device. Refer to Scenario 1 at http://www.patronsoft.com/firstspot/topologies.html for details.

Post subject: We do have Router

Between the client and Firstspot there is a router because clients are behind Coaxial cable (CableModems) so we do have a router that translates between the Coaxial and the ethernet(data) network. Let me know how can I fix the problem so only one person can login at the same time.

~Thank U

You need to take advantage of our Multiple Network Segments features. The basic steps are:

1) make sure your router's NAT is off
2) use IP-based Session Handling within FirstSpot
3) setup Multiple Network Segments setting with FirstSpot

Refer to Chapter 4 (Scenario 3) of firstspot_guide.pdf for details.
