Post subject: NEW VERSION UPGRADE QUESTIONS

Hi,

We have installed Firstspot for about a year already and we would like to upfrade to the new version , but I have some questions:

1. We have all the aplication personalized to our needs, which mean that we have modified the PHP code for several pages. WIth the version can we still modify PHP codes ??

2. The licensing policy is applied to a MAC address like the previous version??

3. With the current version we are having a DHCP issue. We have 2 subnets each of one with an independant router all of them doing DHCP rely , and a AP for the rest of the user going straight to the the firstspot private interface switch. The problem is that customers behind the AP should get the firstspot private int IP as a default gateway, but they dont. THey always get the separate subnets gateway, after couple of ipconfig release and renew they get the correct gateway. Is this a fixable problem with the new version??? Or if not what can we do to fix it?

Thanks

1) For upgrade instruction, please refer to chapter 5 of firstspot_guide.pdf. Yes, you need re-apply some of your PHP customization to the new installation.

2) Yes.

3) If your Multiple Network Segments is setup correctly, you shouldn't encounter the problem you mentioned. In general, the current v4 DHCP server is more robust, so I am sure we can resolve everything once you upgrade.
