I am getting constant errors with this program now, and eventually the firstspot stops responding altogether.
FSSendMail.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Typical built-in Windows error message. What would be causing this process to fail repeatedly? I click Close on the error message and it just comes back a couple of minutes later. If I don't close them, I end up with a stack of hundreds of the messages.
I have no idea if this will help or not but here is the appcompat.txt file contents relating to this error:

There are also a couple of fssendmail.exe.hdmp and .mdmp files created every time there is an error.

Yes, I am a current customer. I have made significant customisations to the authentication section of Firstspot for my own purposes and I wouldn't want to lose that right now. I am hoping to go to v5 in a little while, but once I have a chance to download it and set it up, recreating my authentication changes. But for the moment, I have a v4 system that isn't working right and am asking for assistance with it. |

This just started for me out of nowhere last week. My mail server hasn't changed in months, and I've had firstspot running for a year now (maybe more) without this problem. Hm... that does sound more like a problem on my end when I say it that way. ;) I will check out the mail server settings to see if someone has modified it to require authentication and see if I can figure out what else might have changed.
Thanks for the quick responses... I'll investigate and let you know. I'm working on it right now, so it should be soon. |

Well, I didn't fix the problem, but I made the symptoms go away. I just disabled SMTP Roaming altogether. It's a nice feature, but I'll just leave it off until I get a chance to upgrade to v5. |
