Vista - Fail to start Named BIND DNS Server

I used V5 trial successfully under Win2K - installed and working with no issues. Under Vista on a different PC, I am unable to start the FirstSpot program. Error "Fail to start Named BIND DNS server"
I've checked the ReadMe and browsed the guide but no pointers here...?
Vista version is Home (Basic) and I don't see any problem with the minimum requirements for FirstSpot to load.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you set your Vista user as a "Administrator" with a non-blank password? You need to reconfigure the Vista user first and try to reinstall FirstSpot.

Yes I can confirm that my user account was as you describe. I'll pull off the log file and config in case this helps with the problem? Vista has been updated to include all latest patches.

I would like to know further about the machine settings.

1) Have you turned off the User Account Control before installation?

2) In "Control Panel"->"Administrative Tools"->"Services", is the name shown in the "Log On As" attribute of ISC BIND the same as that of the account you use to install and start FirstSpot?

3) Does the machine belong to a computer network domain? If yes, is the login credential you use for installation a member of the domain?

UAC is turned off - I read this requirement before installing
The log-on for ISC BIND service is the user account "Techie" which the administrator account used for the install of the trial software.
The Vista PC is not on any network domain.

Please perform the following test.
1) Open Control Panel→Administrative Tools→Services.
2) Start ISC BIND by right-clicking it and choose "Start".
3) Check if any error message is prompted. Post the content here if so.
4) Open Control Panel→Administrative Tools→Event Viewer.
5) Go to Windows Logs→System
6) Check if any "ISC BIND service" or "Named service" related entries with timestamp around the time when you perform step 2. Post the content here if so.

Today the PC would not boot - so allowed the system to "repair itself". Upon a successful re-boot, the FirstSpot software had been uninstalled(?).
Decided to start over and download a fresh version from PatronSoft site. This completed OK - installed OK with no errors reported.

Firstspot loaded - changed configuration for private NIC - saved.

Cleared all logs from event viewer.
Tried to start BIND service as suggested - error 1067
Suggests "file not found" the file in question named.conf
Examined the file path and no such file exists

Ok - I have the trial working with Vista!
I removed the software (again)
Removed all network cables
Re-installed from the software saved to my local PC - no errors
Ran FirstSpot - set Private NIC and disablled DHCP server (used on router)
Reconnected network
Ran service manually - error 1067 (event viewer - file not found for named.conf)

Ran FirstSpot - Starting ..... finally "Started"
I'm not aware of what differences might explain this but I checked the directory path and named.conf created 12:15pm

I have the same problem working on windows vista. Could you explain me how you made in windows vista?

1) Make sure you don't start ISC BIND DNS manually (FirstSpot will start it).

2) You type the right Windows user password during FirstSpot setup.
