Restrict Users to particular segment

Does the software allow users on different segments to login to their non-parent segment so to speak? In other words if there are segments 1 and 2 and someone registers on segment 1 do they automatically have credentials to log into segment 2? If so how is this prevented?

By default, FirstSpot will allow user to login via any any network segments ( assuming you are talking about Scenario 3, see http://www.patronsoft.com/firstspot/topologies.html ).

If you want to somehow distinguish user from different segments, you need to customize the php. One way to do it is to change the signup_form.php and prefix username (e.g. network1_xxxx) when user self sign-up, and you need to use the "Redirect PHP" feature (see chapter 3 of firstspot_guide.pdf) to make the login page of each segment to add back the username prefix in.

So will this prevent network1_user from being able to log into network2?

My idea is that the login page in each segment (again refer to Redirect PHP) will insert the username prefix back in, so they is no way user self sign-up in one segment can login in another segment.

The customization I propose is not that difficult, but you do need a PHP/HTML/Javascript programmer to pull it off.
