Post subject: Setup FirstSpot

I know i'm not posting this message in the right forum, but I want to ask something about the FirstSpot Setup.

When I run the setup.msi file, I get some error messages. The two are about 2 DLL files:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Module C:\Program Files\FirstSpot\cfgmgr\fsconfig.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147221164. Contact your support personnel.

Cancel Retry Ignore
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Module C:\Program Files\FirstSpot\authserv/fsauth.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147221164. Contact your support personnel.

Cancel Retry Ignore
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Besides these two error messages, while I ignore them, I'm also not able to start the Apache service.

Is there anyway you could help me ?

Thanks in advance Smile

Did you have Apache/PHP/FirstSpot previously installed? Make sure you remove all trace of Apache/PHP/FirstSpot before running setup.msi.

What is the Windows version that you are using?

If you still have difficulties, please run the below commands before running FirstSpot setup.msi:

regsvr32 /u fsconfig.dll
regsvr32 /u fsauth.dll

First of all, thank you all for the fast replies! Very Happy

I am running Windows XP Professional.

I didn't have any trace of Apache/PHP/FirstSpot
I tried with the regsvr32.exe /u command

It didn't work..
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've tried to start the Apache service at:
Administrative tools -> Services

It wouldn't start. I've been told to look at the event viewer.

I've checked the Event viewer and got the following error message:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 487 of C:/Program Files/FirstSpot/www/apache/conf/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 181 of C:/Program Files/FirstSpot/www/apache/conf/httpd-firstspot.conf: Could not open configuration file C:/Program Files/FirstSpot/www/apa .

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks in advance! Smile

Your problem is in setup rather than Apache.

One question : do you have non-English characters in your Network Connections name? Can you post the output of the command ipconfig/all?

Your Network Connections name look okay.

Somehow, FirstSpot is unable to register the DLL in your Windows. Do you see anything suspicious in your Windows Event Viewer (check the non-FirstSpot error)? Also, can you try to install FirstSpot in another machine with a cleanly-installed Windows?
