We'd like to use the Anonymous Option with Shared Secret but the data transfer tracking should be on MAC level, not on the level of the shared secret.
Is this somehow possible?
We've been using the publicip zonecd for a while but are looking for a better (read: more stable) portal system. |

Currently, for Anonymous Option with Shared Secret, the Data Transfer Tracking is per-MAC (per client). You can view the user log at Authentication Server -> Login Option -> click "Show user log" button Anonymous Option with Shared Secret.
Only the Data Transfer Quota is based on Shared Secret (i.e. FirstSpot sums up all the clients access for that Shared Secret and enforce the Quota based on the total data transfer).
BTW, you want per-user quota and you know the client MAC in advance, you can use the user attribute "Use MAC as Username" instead. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

OK, we'll use the self sign up mechanism instead.
This brings us to the next question: how do I create a plan that allows access for a signed up user up to a specific data volume, blocks the account when the volume is exceeded but re-activates the account when the data transfer counter is reset?
In our current test-setup the account remains suspended or expired after the data counter is reset. |

First, create a Plan (e.g. PlanX) and set:
Enable data transfer counter: Yes and disable the account when the counter exceeds the below quota (K Bytes)
This above value is data transfer quota for all self sign-up users.
Make sure you go to Authentication Server -> Self sign-up Plan, and select this PlanX.
Afterwards, you can either:
1) reset individual user quota by going to Users -> select a particular user -> click "Reset Quota" button
or
2) reset all users' quota by going to Users -> click "Reset Data Transfer Quota Now" (at the bottom of the page, under "Reset data transfer counters of all users") _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

OK, resetting the data transfer quota also works with scheduling 'resetABW.exe' to execute every day, correct?
When the sign-up plan binds to the first MAC adres, when is this MAC adres free to sign up again? |

The program "resetABW.exe" is for schedule reset (you need to configure individual reset schedule under user attribute "When to reset data transfer counter"), and yes you need to run the program every day.
As for user attribute "Bind to first login MAC address", it is bind to that particular username only, so user can self sign-up again without restriction (unless set "Enforce restriction on self sign-up accounts"). _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
