Post subject: evaluation problem

i installed the patronsoft in a windows 2003 server. everything were installed properly.

private and public ip's are already set and configured. I can access the internet from the server and from client pc.

from my client pc, i have 192.168.182.43/24 ... i can ping to the private and public address of the server. I can even ping to google.com from the client pc.

however in the documentation, it says that; from my client pc, you need to access as http://private_ip:auth_server_port or http://192.168.182.1:5788 to get you in the web portal.

In this case, i cannot access the portal of the server. I tried the public address but also didn't work.

what's wrong so far?

Try to go to a valid web site (e.g. yahoo.com) instead.

See http://www.patronsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1088 for more discussion on this topic.

well, the server and the clients works when browsing to the internet. Supposedly, the client will have to login to the server before accessing to the internet but it doesn't do like to that .... let me know. I'm evaluating the software before i buy it.

i reinstall and use the default configuration. From the client pc, i browse as http://10.20.7.1:5788 and get the "Welcome to our Hotspot" page. I login with username and password and then it says "Forbidden, You don't have permission to access /:5786 on this server."

Under Dispatcher - service listening port is 5788. i wonder why it gives me port 5786 error.

I think, this is an apache issue. any idea so far?

thanks.

Yes, looks like a Apache or access issue.

Please make sure:

1) Please make sure Apache is completely deleted (check Windows Services) before reinstalling FirstSpot.

2) ICF or other software are not blocking incoming access.
