Hi all,
I am currently running version 4.00
I have noticed that in another thread that version 4.01 & 4.0.2 are mentioned.
I will be going live on the 1/4/06
Do i need to upgrade or patch? |

4.0.1 yes since it tightens FirstSpot a bit in terms of security.
BTW, 4.0.2 is not released yet. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Hi Allan,
What is the correct procedure for performing an upgrade?
1. Uninstall v4.0.0 reboot then install v4.0.1 then reconfigure
or
2. Just run the v4.0.1 installer over the top of the current v4.0.0 install
Would option 2 keep my configuration settings? |

We only support option 1 at this moment.
We do have tools to make your upgrade easier. Please check out chapter 5 of firstspot_guide.pdf (v4) for details. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Hi Alan, Everyone
I performed the upgrade this way.
Running version 4.0.0
Stop firstspot via configuration manager
Copy the c:\program files\firstspot directory to a backup directory
Uninstall v4.0.0
Restart server
Install v4.0.1
Check that there had been no updates on any user customised files
Overwrite logon screens with my custom files.
Reconfigure Firstspot settings manually.
(No changes to database schema only web pages)
It didn't take to long and at least it's a very clean install.
After 60 Days of pilot testing i have now gone live at my firstspot location with many more to come. :)
I will forward some updates on the first two days of live operation shortly.
Thanks for your help!!! |
