Post subject: Internal error

Hi,

I'm trialing 4 beta 2, but am having trouble logging in. On login, I get an error "Internal Server Error or misconfiguration unable to complete your request" It seems to be Apache generating the error

Thanks

Tony

Can you give us remote access (e.g. VNC or Windows Remote Desktop Connection) so that we can take a quick look? Just send the instruction to firstspot@patronsoft.com.

Hi Alan,

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier, but I was away from the office for an extended period. Anyway, I have downloaded and installed 4.0.1 and am still getting the internal error from Apache. I am using Microsoft IAS for authentication. The IAS server logs my login attempt as successful, but I cannot get past the Apache error.

Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Tony.

Hi Alan,

I followed your link and it is exactly the same as my problem, however, the suggested solution as follows:

"Your IAS need to reply FirstSpot an attribute "FS_AUTH_ACL" and it cannot be empty(either char 'Y' or 'N'). "

Could you elaborate on this as I don't understand what is required.

Thanks,

Tony.

you need DLL plug-in and Database for IAS to handle FirstSpot Parameter.

About the DLL plug-in please read Internet Authentication Service of Microsoft Platform SDK 2003
which is under Networking and Directory Service->Network Security.

Could you please be more specific ? Do I need to install additional software on the Firstspot server ?

You might want to check out http://www.patronsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=753 . It contains sample source code there.

Basically, you need to write a DLL which will be installed in the IAS (instead of FirstSpot). And yes, some programming efforts are needed.

Alan,

I am not a Programmer, that's why I spend lots of money on other peoples software. Can you confirm that FirspSpot version 4 is not compatible with Microsoft IAS as it stands ? If that is the case, I will just stick with version 3.

Thanks,

Tony.

IAS compatibility with FirstSpot v3 and v4 should be the same. It is the nature of IAS that requires some programming efforts.

In that case, I suggest you use ODBC Authentication Mode or Funk RADIUS.
