404 Errors

Hi,

I have the system installed using MySQL. My issue is that I cannot get to the signup or login pages over the wireless system. I can bring up Patron Softs website over the wireless. I have disabled checksum on the Nic's and the "DisableTaskOffload" is not even in my registry. I am running Win2003 Enterprise.

If I type in the public IP of the first spot server from a WAN connection I get a Congradulations screen. If I add login_select.php or signup_form.php from the same machine I get the 404 error. From the wireless side I get DNS errors.

A check of the NIC status shows that the First Spot DHCP is working and assigning proper values.

Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I saw that post. Hardware Checksum has been disabled on both NIC cards and DisableTaskOffload has been disabled as well.

I still cannot get the system to bring up the login or signup pages. It will still bring up Patronsoft though. On the wireless LAN I still get DNS Errors.

As a test, please use default datasource instead of MySQL to see whether this solves your issue.

Also, when you say DNS error, how do you know? Did you run nslookup command in the client PC? Also, please make sure you didn't install MS DNS server in your 2003. FirstSpot has its own DNS server and it will conflict other DNS server.

I disabled the MySQL Server and ran First Spot. Nothing would work. It would not even find the Patron Soft website.

Restarting the MySQL Server put me back to where I was.

I ran nslookup and the First Spot DNS is working perfectly.

When I try to access the public IP from the wireless side I get "Cannot find server or DNS Error" in the browser window.

Any Ideas?

Well, we cannot pinpoint your exact error.

Please try to reinstall FirstSpot in a clean Windows machine. Make sure the default datasource works first as it is the most basic case. Also, check your Internet connection in your FirstSpot machine. You need to confirm that your FirstSpot can surf the Internet as usual after FirstSpot is started.

Okay, I rebuilt the box with Win2003 SP1, Nothing else, disabled the offloading and checksum on the public and private nic card and made sure the DisableTaskOffload is off in the registry.

With First Spot running, I can surf the net with no problems on the First Spot Box. The wireless system will not. I can however type in 10.20.7.1:5786 on the wireless box and get to the login screen. I can login (using sample account); I can even sign up a new account (although the credit card feature doesn’t work). After sign in I cannot surf the net on the wireless side. I get "cannot find server or dns error" in the browser.

I noticed that once logged on the wireless side I check status in First Spot and the MAC address is 00-00-00-00-00-00. I also notice that when first spot starts there is no default gateway on the private (10.20.7.1) nic card: should there be one? If so, what should I use?.

You might have problem with the DNS. Can you post the output of the following commands:

1) ipconfig/all of FirstSpot
2) ipconfig/all of client PC
3) "nslookup apple.com" from the client PC

Did you installed MS DNS server? It will conflict with FirstSpot DNS server. Any strange error in the Windows Event Viewer?

Also, did you turn on Client Isolation?

Yes, Client isolation is on.

The named.exe generated several errors in the event log:
