Post subject: Subnet Mask Issues

Thanks for all the help you guys have been giving me, but I got one last small thorn... I'm not sure if it's just a bug in the 4.0.8 version or not, but whatever I set the subnet mask in the "Dispatcher" it always comes out as "255.255.255.255" on the client's side. I tried the following:

Private IP: 10.20.7.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Private IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Private IP: 10.20.7.1
Subnet Mask: 255.0.0.0

But no matter what I set it to I always get a subnet mask of 255.255.255.255 on the client side, which is actually causing some networking issues...

please help.

Most likely you turn on "Client Isolation". This is normal and it shouldn't affect your client PC connection to FirstSpot and the Internet.

It does, here is the scenario that I was testing...

Internet>DSL Modem>Firstspot Wan>Firstspot Server>Firstspot Lan> Router Wan>ROUTER>Router Lan>Client PC

With the isolation turned on, the client pc dosn't make a connection, with it off, it does, but then I don't have the security of client isolation... how can i fix this?

Note that you need to make sure your Multiple Network Segments settings are correct (otherwise client isolation won't work). Please check out Chapter 4 of firstspot_guide.pdf to confirm.

If you still have difficulties, please post:
1) ipconfig/all of the client PC
2) ipconfig/all of FirstSpot
3) config.ini
