Post subject: Show IP address on public side

I will be using a load balancer to sum or team dsl connections. My firstspot server will sit behind this device. It load balances based on IP addresses. Right now it only sees one IP address for all the clients on the firstspot server. It is the IP address of the public nic in the Firstspot server. Is there any way I can get Firstspot to pass the private side IP address to the public side so my load balancer will be able to load balance based on the multiple IP adresses it sees?

You need to turn off NAT within FirstSpot. Note that this option is available in Advanced Edition only.

Refer to firstspot_guide.pdf for more technical details.

Could I use the ProxyARP feature? If I used ProxyARP then I think the public and private side must be on the same IP subnet. I am thinking that the Firstspot server should have a static IP address in the subnet that is excluded on the router from the DHCP pool. I am not sure what to set for the ProxyARP IP range on the firstspot software configuration. Can you help?

ProxyARP is more for you to save adding a routing route in the next-hop router. If you just want to "reveal" the client side PC IP, you don't need to use ProxyARP (though using it won't hurt).

Again, refer to Chapter 3 of firstspot_guide.pdf (ProxyARP parameter) for more discussion.
