VPN client issues - nortel vpn client

Nortel Networks - Connectivity VPN Client Vol 5_01.100 128-bit version

Does anyone know what needs to be done to get this to work with firstspot? We have the pro version but clients are complaining that it is not connecting. we are using dhcp and nat, with anonymous mode. Users get on the internet after being forwarded to the hotel website. No restrictions.

Forgot to mention that they have already paid for the pro version. its licensed.

Im making sure they have nat transversal turned on, on the vpn client. besides that, what else should I look for?

One thing to try is to turn off NAT within FirstSpot. Note that you need to set the return route in the next-hop router correctly if you do that.

BTW, what Windows OS are you current using?

I would rathar not turn off NAT, and have requested that they make sure nat transversal is on within the vpn client. It's setup in a hotel so I would rathar not assign static addresses to guests, as you can imagine. The OS is server 2003.

Actually, turning off NAT within FirstSpot does not mean that you need real IP. You can still have NAT in the next-hop router, namely:

Client -> FirstSpot -> Router (turn on NAT here) -> Internet

Problem: They only have the standard edition. Is there anything else I could do to remedy this situation? I can't turn NAT off on this firstspot server!

In that case, you need to fix the VPN problem from the client side. Theoretically, if the NAT transversal is working correctly, FirstSpot NAT shouldn't affect the VPN operation at all.

BTW, you shouldn't be able to run Windows Server 2003 using FirstSpot Standard Edition. Please clarify.

My mistake, it was an xp machine. This is what im trying now: I'm plugging the internet connection into teh first spot computer, and using it as the router, taking the linksys router completely out of the picture.
