Can you post a reply to previous post instead (yes, you need to register).

BTW, you can just copy and paste the text (instead of posting image) in the command prompt windows (select the menu in the top left corner -> Edit -> Mark)

( continued from http://patronsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1626 )

So can you issue "ping 192.168.1.10" from the client PC? Please post your result.

Also, looks like you change the default DNS setting from FirstSpot. Is that true?

Yes, I am able to ping from the client pc and yes, the DNS is configured using the firstspot page.

As a test, can you revert your DNS setting back to the default value (I think you modified the setting in DHCP tab) and restart FirstSpot? It seems that there is problem with your DNS request and I want to make the case a bit simpler first.

Post subject: before I do anything else..

I think I ought to let you know what the physical configuration is like.. before I go about changing anything that you mentioned. Basically, its 2 pcs, 1 client and the other attached to an Access Point. The client does not have anything installed or attached to it other than a wireless adapter that is working fine. The pc with the AP has firstspot software installed and 2 NIC cards, one connected to a another network which is enabling an internet connection, and the other of course is used by the AP. Thanks for your help so far, Alan.. Its much appreciated.

Your setup looks fine. Just make sure the WAN port within your AP is NOT used.

Please go ahead and make the modification I mentioned and post the result...

Ok, to do without any complications, I connected both PCs with a RJ45 crosscable. And yes everything worked, the configuration and the pinging.. but still unable to access the login page.

Again, your hardware setup looks fine. I think it is more a software configuration issue.

Prior to installation, I did everything including the settings.. Seems strange, could it be a problem with the ports?

Post subject: about the changes

regarding the changes to the DNS, what should I do again? Because if I set it to nothing, it will prompt me to type something into the preferred DNS server IP and alternative DNS server IP. If i set it to 192.168.2.1, the client pc would not even be able to go online.

Just want to confirm one thing first, you need to set "Obtain DNS server address automatically" in the client side so that it gets the correct DNS value.

Please post your config.ini file if you still have problem.
