Hi Alan and Karl...
We have three firstspot servers running in different locations. In two of that three locations, the DHCP shows an error message indicating what "DHCP has caused an error and will close". (Sorry for the translation, the message shows in Spanish, and is the default message when any applications executes an invalid operation).
Any ideas on how to check the DHCP server? Our server is an Windows XP SP2, the DHCP is managed by FirstSpot, We have about 50 users by day (sometimes 50 will go off, and others 50 will enter to the network).
When that happen, we need to restart the firstspot and all continues OK. That happen about 1 time by month, sometimes 2 or 3 times... is not constant.
thanks
P.D. The other firstspot don´t have problems, but that server have about 2 or 3 users by day... Is the high traffic the problem? |

50 users should be fine.
Is it possible that there is IP conflict in your network? Note that you should put the statically assigned IP in FirstSpot DHCP "Excluded IP" list.
Can you zip and email us at firstspot@patronsoft.com the files (under FirstSpot\dhcp directory):
CheckExpiration.txt
dhcpservice.ini
FreeIPList.txt
trace.txt
when DHCP server crashes?
Also, what is the configuration of your machine, and what version of FirstSpot are you currently using? _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
