Post subject: Clients unable to get on Internet

On the client-side when starting a web browser, I'm redirected to the login page. After I login I'm unable to access any website. Here's the nslookup for apple.com and the ifconfig of both the client and firstspot machine. From the FirstSpot machine I'm able to get webpages. I also can't view the free sites from client, and I'm able to ping both IP address on the FirstSpot machine from the client. I was able to do everything yesterday; however, when I started the machine this morning it wouldn't work. I don't believe I changed any settings.

Something wrong with your client Default Gateway. Can you run:

ipconfig/release
ipconifg/renew

to get an IP from FirstSpot again?

This is my ipconfig after I release and renew. Now I'm not automatically redirected to the login page. I have to manually type in 10.20.7.1:5788. After logging in I'm still unable to access the Internet.

Yes the test client computer is running Vista. Should I try another computer? We don't have a problem with Vista clients using our old FirstSpot machine.

Vista client should be fine. Can you issue:

ping 10.20.7.1
nslookup
set d2
apple.com

and post the output here?

Your setup looks fine.

Can you connect another non-Vista PC to the FirstSpot as a test?

I know that it's been said Vista should work fine as a client on v4, but I've had a couple of customers who use Vista not be able to get on. This is after disabling the firewall entirely. It gets an IP address, but can't load up the login page. Sounds very similar... I'm wondering if there is a security setting in the Vista/IE7 combination that doesn't like the "redirect" to the login page...
