Set-Up

P4 3GHz
1GB RAM
Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2
FirstSpot Trial v4.0.13

DHCP works but no login page is brought up.
Even when you type "http://Private_IP:5788" in the browser.

What am I missing?

First, can you ping the Private_IP from the client side? Please make sure the firewall within Windows 2003 is turned off.

Also, please check that the Apache service (check Windows service console) is started correctly.

Yes I could ping both LAN and WAN IP of the FirstSpot Server.

Windows Firewall service is disabled.
Apache service is running.

I would get forbidden access when trying to get to port 5787, but when trying to get to port 5788 it would just time out.

This is strange.

Forbidden access for port 5787 is normal as you haven't turn on "Allow configuration manager access from Wi-Fi Hotspot" (in the Configuration Manager category).

Did you use the URL state in http://patronsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1088 ? Maybe your Apache conf file is corrupted. Try to change Private IP and restart FirstSpot (which will change the conf file).

Otherwise, you might want to reinstall FirstSpot (maybe in a different PC).

If I allow access to port 5787 I am able to load the configuration manager so I believe that the apache server is running correctly.

I have re-installed the program about 3 times all with the same result.

Everything look good except for being able to see the Login Page...

Can you post your:

1) ipconfig/all output issued in your FirstSpot machine
2) httpd.conf file (under FirstSpot\www\Apache\conf directory)

We have scattered reports on problem with Broadcom Gigabit card (as Private Network Interface). Can you flip your 2 networks (and rewire) and test again?

Refer to readme.rtf for instruction to change FirstSpot network card setting without reinstall.

Thank you Alan I can now access the login page.

Do you offer support/answer pre-sales questions over a chat program.
eg. Skype

Cheers

So how did you fix the problem? Did you use the Realtek 8139 as Private Network Interface instead?
