I'm sorry if this question has already been asked before.
Ok, say I don't need to host websites, I don't need to setup proxy server, I just want to build the system STRICTLY for firstspot. What benefits would there be if I were to use Windows Server 2003 R2/ Windows 2008 instead of Windows XP Pro SP2. I heard a rumour that Windows XP can only open a set amount of TCP/UDP ports and that Windows Server edition does not have this limit.
Thanks |

First, officially we only support Windows 2003 SP2 (not R2). Although R2 may be fine, we didn't perform much test on it.
The XP SP2 limitation is more for open TCP connection and it won't affect FirstSpot. Having said that, I won't be surprised if 2003 performance (at least for high traffic scenario) is better. Maybe MS put in a bigger cache, no one really knows. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
