Post subject: Ping via VPN from Firstspot Server

We have set up a VPN to a LAN whch hosts a Firstspot server a Wireless Access Point, and a PC.

The VPN is ok, and can see the LAN, and can ping the PC, but not the Firstspot server.

Firstspot can be accesed via the local Access Point, but not via the VPN

Any ideas ??

Can you explain a bit more on your topology? FirstSpot doesn't really distinguish between VPN or non-VPN. As long as it is TCP/IP it should be fine.

Note that FirstSpot needs to be in the outgoing path of the client PC.

Post subject: Ping Problems

We have a Local LAN consisting of 1 switch with a 3 PCs and a Windows 2003 Server running Firstspot . On this Local LAN (Address range 192.168.7.x) is also a Wireless Access Point, and a connection to a VPN to a remote network (Address range 192.168.8.x).
The local PCs and Wireless Clients can access Firstspot locally ok.
Clients on the remote network cannot access Firstspot, even though the VPN link is good.
Clients on the remote network can ping the LAN side of the VPN Router, and also ping local LAN Clients.
Clients on the remote network cannot however ping the Firstspot Server.
Local LAN Clients can ping the both the Firstspot Sever and clients on the remote network.

Not really sure why. I still suspect some setup issue with your VPN though. You need to use Ethereal to check which part is failing (e.g. sniff FirstSpot to see whether it responds to the remote network client ping requests).
