What are the steps I should follow to upgrade my installation from version 5 Beta 2 to the version 5 production release? Will I be able to keep the configuration settings?

You need to uninstall/reinstall. Refer to chapter 5 of firstspot_guide.pdf for instruction. Make sure you copy the license.key file over.
Note that starting from v5.0.0 final release, we will support upgrade (e.g. v5.0.0 to v5.0.2).
