Instant Keywords on multiple network segment

Hi,

We have multiple network segments using one firstspot server.
logout or other instant keywords don't seem to work.
we have set the dns of workstation to use the firstspot server but keywords still don't work.
Do you already have a solution for this?

As long as you setup DHCP relay in your router and use FirstSpot DHCP server, Instant Keyword will work.

We use your VPN topology and uses zywall-35.
firstspot network is 172.16.10.0/24
one network segment network is 10.20.0.0/16.
how can i configure firstspot to give each network segment an ip on its own subnet?

The problem is not on the "DHCP relay to firstspot server". since i have set the dhcp to use the firstspot server as the dns.

I have fix the problem by changing the "Default DNS suffix" to our own domain name on firstspot configuration.

Actually, if you setup DHCP relay in your router and the client PC obtains the IP from FirstSpot DHCP, everything (including Default DNS suffix) will be configured correctly.

And yes, if you assign the client IP manually, you need to make sure:
1) the DNS is pointing to FirstSpot
2) the "Default DNS suffix" matches the one configured under Instant Keywords category of Configuration Manager (in v4 or earlier it is hard-coded to firstspot.org).

as i mentioned earlier we are using your recommended VPN setup using zywall-35 and zywall-2.
the network of firstspot server is 172.16.10.0/24
first network to be relayed(network segment) is 10.20.0.0/16
second network to be relayed(network segment) is 10.21.0.0/16
and so on....

I have a problem understanding how can the firstspot dhcp server assign an ip address that is not on his subnet if it is set to relay DHCP as you suggested?
maybe you can show me the dchp config file for this?

First, you need a router that supports DHCP relay (normally, you need mid-range router. Most of the low-end router like Linksys won't support DHCP relay). For definition of DHCP relay, see http://www.tech-faq.com/dhcp-relay-agent.shtml .

If you setup FirstSpot Multiple Network Segments correctly, the client PC will get the correct IP setting (depends on the segment it locates in).

As you already know zywall-35 and zywall-2 supports dhcp relay.

I think i have setup network segments correctly. I will try to use the firstspot as the DCHP server.
