Private & Public network problem

Hi

I've a little bit of a problem, we are working on a solution where we want to use firstspot in a hotel environment where there is one network cable running to each room that connect IP phones to their PBX. If I’m correct you require a different network range to run firstspot?

Is it at all possible to run firspot in the existing network without installing a second LAN cable to each room?

I am not too sure about your exact question. Can you elaborate?

For FirstSpot to work, you just need to place FirstSpot between client and Internet, like

client -> FirstSpot -> router/firewall -> Internet

And FirstSpot can use your existing Internet connection (if that is what you mean).

Do I need to have 2 network cards in my firstspot machine?

How I understand is that firstpot use your internet connection interface as the public interface and the second interface (network card) as the private and you can't have a public and private interface on the same subnet.

Yes, you need 2 network cards in the FirstSpot machine. FirstSpot really acts as a gateway for the client to the Internet at large.

When I'm using two nic's that means that I have to use two network subnets aswell.

Is there any way to make it work on the same subnet as the rest the pc's and IP phones are on?

The 2 network cards need to be in 2 different subnets.
